pick your own vegetables, fruits, berries, herbs, and flowers in season
Shop at your local farmer’s market or farm produce stand! They often carry interesting varieties of fruits and vegetables and heirloom varieties. Many are organic. Freshly harvested produce tastes the best and is richest in nutrients!
If you don’t have a garden, you can still grow some plants in containers. TKids Gardening Website (see “Growing a Gardener”) has child-friendly ideas. Your local nursery or garden center can be very helpful also.
