Spring 2010 Session begins January 5, 2010!

The Fitness Centre opened its doors  to CSUN students, faculty/staff, and alumni in the Spring of 1995. Being a partnership between Associated Students and the University Student Union, the Fitness Centre serves the entire campus community. The purpose of the Fitness Centre's programs and services is to offer CSUN students, faculty/staff, and alumni members the opportunity to engage in a healthy lifestyle. Through our facility, equipment, and human resources, the Fitness Centre provides a motivational environment in which our patrons are encouraged to maximize their results. Additionally, through new collaborative efforts with other groups and departments on-campus, it is of our greatest desire to make fitness and wellness an integral part of campus life.

Cardio Equipment

The Fitness Centre feature several types of cardio equipment to help promote weight lose and improve your cardiovascular fitness. Cardiovascular exercise should be apart of a well balanced exercise to routine in addition to

Upright Bicycles, Recumbent Bicycles, Concept II Rower, First Degree Fluid Water Rower, Precor Ellipticals, Precore AMT’s, Variety of Treadmills, Stairmasters

Weight Training Equipment

Enjoy a variety of weight training equipment to challenge every part of your body. So whether it's curling, pressing, benching or squatting, you'll have a variety of ways to shape your physique. Come and see everything we have to offer!

Free Weights, Plate-loaded Machines, Selectorize equipment, and a Matrix Cross-cable System

Aquatic Pool

Summer, Winter, Spring or Fall the Aquatic pool is always open. Come and enjoy the soothing temperature of 78-82 F, while swimming laps or just soaking up the sun!

Pool, kick boards, pull bouys, and locker rooms (available to shower)

Boxing Studio

The Fitness Centre's Boxing Studio is designed to give members an alternative, yet challenging, workout. Never done boxing before? That's ok! Our certified boxing staff is able to teach the basics as well as advanced techniques to all members. Come in and blow off some steam and get fit!

WORKOUTS CONSIST OF: Basic techniques, numerous offensive and defensive drills, as well as, many other aspects of boxing.

Group Fitness

Get motivated and inspired by participating in a Group Fitness Sessions. With so many options, you can try a different session every day and never get bored. Make Group Fitness a part of your regular health and fitness routine.

Beat Down, Zumba, Strength & Conditioning, Boxer's Basics, Yoga, Pilates Flow, Cardio Hip Hop, and Ab Strength

Rock Wall

Located down near the pool area, stands the Fitness Centre's Rock Wall. It is currently free to all CSUN students with current I.D.

All rock wall gear needed to participate included.

Note: a provided waiver is required before participation is allowed.

We Also Offer:

Free Fitness Assessments provided by Fitness Interns from the Kinesiology Department include: Cardiovascular, Muscular Strength and Endurance, Body Composition, and Flexibility (Fall & Spring ONLY!)

Free Nutrition Counseling provided by the Peer Nutrition Counselors (Fall & Spring ONLY): Get nutritional advice from experienced Graduating Nutrition students. PNC Interns offer a variety of appointments held within the Fitness Centre or the Wellness Lounge. Make an appointment today!

Rules of the Fitness Centre

  • • Picture ID w/ sticker for entry at all times

  • • No picture ID w/ sticker, no entry, no exceptions

  • • Memberships are non-refundable & non transferable

  • • ID's w/sticker are my responsibility, not the Fitness Centre and/or Fitness Centre staff

  • • If I lose my sticker, I must purchase a new sticker: the replacement fee is 50% of the current enrollment fee (exception: police report)

  • • Members under age 18 may only use pool (accompanied by adult guardian), exception: CSUN Students

  • • No food or drink allowed within any facility, except water in sealable container

  • • The following types of clothing are not permitted in any area: stained or soiled clothing, leotards without a covering,Cothing that contains offensive language or images, clothing that exposes stomach, back or cleavage (i.e. halters, half tops, tie-up tops, etc.), clothing that is ripped or torn, denim, dress shoes, open toe shoes, etc.

  • • I have been discouraged from bringing any personal property of value to the Fitness Centre; the Fitness Centre assumes no liability for personal items that are lost, stolen, borrowed or broken while being stored on the premises (lost & found, please call 3946)

  • • No bicycles, mopeds, skateboards, roller-skates, etc. allowed in the Fitness Centre

  • • No pets (only guide/aid animals w/ visual/hearing impaired)

  • • Individual amplified sound (iPods, cd players etc.) w/ earphones are ok provided it does not significantly affect other ' s ' participation

  • • Bare feet, street shoes, boots, cleated shoes, etc. ar e prohibited except e d in designated pool areas

  • • In accordance with state law, smoking, alcohol & controlled substance use is not permitted within any Fitness Centre facility

  • • Harassment (racial, sexual, etc.) in any form, including verbal, physical, and visual is prohibited (membership status may be revoked)

  • • Permits are required prior to the shooting of films, videotapes, still photography, etc., no exceptions (contact USU meeting services x3644)

  • • Members & Fitness Centre staff are expected to follow a ll posted regulations, including emergency response directions

  • • The Fitness Centre encourages member suggestions and is open to ideas that create a better and safer workout environment (contact shift manager and fill out comment card).
